This is beautiful art project is incredible easy to make! It will bring you the bright colors of fall and your kids will love playing with the remaining rice.

You’ll need:

  • about a cup of white rice
  • a teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar
  • food coloring (I used red and yellow because to get to an orange color)
  • any kind of paint: acrylic, or tempera paint or watercolor
  • a zip-lock bag
  • tacky glue
  • a piece of paper
  • a pencil

Start with making colored rice. In a zip-lock bag, add rice, vinegar, and a couple of drops of food coloring. Seal the bag, and mix all properly. Pour the colored rice (it will be wet at this point) onto the plate to dry.

After the rice has dried, start making an outline of your picture using a pencil. When you are satisfied with the result, apply tacky glue to the pumpkin and pour over colored rice. I recommend pressing the rice into the paper after you pour it, for better sticking.

Now, let the glue dry, then shake off extra rice from the paper. You might even add extra elements to the picture at this point.

When you are satisfied with the result, use some paint to all elements: for example, stems, hay, and a phrase, how I did in my example.

Voila! Your easy and pretty art project is ready!
