Fall in Love

This year has been extremely challenging so far. We’ve been (and still are) isolated from our relatives, especially elderly ones, but there is something nice you can do for them. You can make them a card and send them your love. You can show them that you care.

This is a really easy and fun activity, and your kids will be happy to help you with revealing leaves' patterns. I’m pretty sure that your kids will be amazed by the results. If your kids are older, they can even help you with cutting out the shapes of the leaves. Speaking of good fine motor skills …

You’ll need:

  • Tree leaves. You can pick them up during your walks, and then get them dry and flat by putting them between the pages of an old book
  • Crayola crayons
  • Scissors
  • Tacky glue
  • Your usual white paper that you use in the printer
  • Blank colored card (they are usually sold in sets with matching envelopes)

Start with choosing the leaf that has a nice shape and will fit under your white paper.

Put the leaf under the paper and, while holding both the leaf and the paper in the same place with one arm, use crayon to rub it on the paper just above the leaf. The stronger you press crayon while rubbing it, the brighter the picture of the leaf will be. When you finished rubbing the leaf, cut it out using the scissors.

Use leaves that have different shapes and sizes, and use different colors of crayons to get multiple leaves in different colors.

When you are satisfied with your paper leaves, simply collage them together with tacky glue using the outer part of a blank card as a base.

Voila! You just made a beautiful card. Now, sign it and send it out to somebody you care about, but couldn’t see for a long time. Let’s spread some love this season!
