Family Time

This very easy to make art activity you can do every year to see how your kids are growing up and how your family is changing.

If you want to go all fancy, you can choose pieces of newspaper pages that have words you’d like to highlight, like I did for this project. If you want to keep it simple, though, you may use any newspaper.

You’ll need:

  • Colored cardstock paper
  • Old newspapers or magazines
  • Tacky glue
  • The most basic ballpoint pen
  • Highlighters (if you want to do something extra and highlight the words)
  • Stencils (also if you want to do something extra, but you can just write the letters and numbers)

Start with tearing pages of old newspapers and arranging them on the piece of cardstock. When you are satisfied with the way it looks, glue newspaper pieces to the cardstock.

Let the glue dry, and trace the shapes of the palms on the newspaper pieces.

That’s it. You can go above and beyond by highlighting the words on the newspaper pieces, or by writing down your family name and a date when you made this art project. You can even color the outlines of your palms in different colors or decorate it with different patterns. Use your imagination.

Enjoy your time together and have fun creating!
